Family, Friends, and Colleagues:
This past year NYCID continued to follow its mission of "strengthening relationships and building community." Something we have been doing successfully for 40 plus years.
34 young people (young adults from the criminal justice system) have successfully completed Arches, transforming their lives through this mentorship program.
More than 160 divorcing\separating parents learned important skills to help their children adapt to their changing family dynamic.
Over 100 children were able to see their parent in a safe, stress-free environment on a weekly basis.
Over 700 disputes (involving over 2,100 people) were mediated by staff and volunteers.
Over 200 people learned conflict resolution skills significantly enriching their professional and personal lives.
Over 1,200 students benefited from our enriching after-school and summer camp programs allowing many of their parents to work stress free knowing their children were receiving quality child care.
Over 700 young people were given the tools, resources and opportunities to work toward academic success.
We did good work and we are very proud of it. The numbers, however, don't tell the story. The people who we helped often tell it better.
Dorian Beckles got his GED through Arches and was promoted to shift supervisor in a retail establishment in Rockefeller Center.
YABC's Erikson is on his way to earning a high school diploma and is now on the Student Council.
A parent in one our programs now has a relationship with his 9 year old daughter. The Dad has been going to this program for many years and it has helped him tremendously in keeping his family together. In his words….."My daughter and I are close and it is solely because of NYCID's Supervised Visitation Program."
The impact we have in our community could not be done without our dedicated staff, board, and volunteers. We hope to continue in our mission of "strengthening relationships and building community" and could use your help in doing that. Please consider making a donation to help us continue in our efforts and build upon our successes. There is a link below for your convenience.
Any and every donation is appreciated.
All the best to you and yours during this holiday season.
