A Community School is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, youth development, family support, health and social services and community development leads to improved student learning, stronger families and heal their communities.

Mentor Health Counseling Focus:

NYCID’s Supportive Counseling Program provides individual and group counseling services to students and families through Community Schools.  NYCID provides crisis intervention services for students, referrals for additional services, and clinically indicated home visits.  Services are provided in the schools, during the day to enable student’s social-emotional health and wellness.  NYCID Counselors provide mental health Professional Development for staff and workshops for families.
