The Supreme Court Matrimonial Part Mediation Program offers custody & visitation mediation to litigants in the process of divorce. Mediation services may be offered through judicial referral or at the parties’ election.

Civil Court
NYCID provides mediation services to both represented and pro se litigants in the following Civil Court parts: Small Claims (under $10,000), Civil Claims (over $10,000), and Housing Court (landlord – tenant matters). Civil Court mediation services are initiated either at the election of the parties or by court referral.

Criminal Court
Based on referrals from the Staten Island District Attorney’s office, the First Time Offenders Program offers individuals charged with non-felony offenses the opportunity to participate in a mediation process as an alternative to criminal prosecution.

Lemon Law
Under the direction of the New York State Attorney General’s office, the New York Center for Interpersonal Development has state-certified arbitrators who hear cases and determine whether a vehicle shall be deemed a “lemon” under the New York State Lemon Law.
