Youth Development Programs

A Focus on Education and Workforce Preparation

Throughout the five boroughs, NYCID operates a number of vital and dynamic youth development programs for all ages. These programs used strengths-based counseling approaches with a focus on social-emotional learning. Our workforce programs concentrate on reconnecting at promise youth to education and helping them attain the essential skills they need to join to workforce.

0 Children Helped
Every year over 5,200 “At-Promise” 4 to 24-year olds begin various programs with NYCID. Each of our kids get a fresh start. Thousands get extra support, some get a second chance at a high school diploma.
0 Diplomas Earned
Every year NYCID ushers over 2,000 youth to high school diplomas, grade advancement, credit recovery, and to a passing regents exam.
0 Job Placements
We propel more than 300 toward the completion of transformative mentoring programs; and provide more than 1,000 internships and job placements.

What makes us different:

  • Every school is different and has different needs and concerns regarding it’s students. We work collaboratively with the schools to customize a program that meets those needs so that help goes where it will make the most difference.
  • We approach our work with a youth development mindset. We believe every student is an “At Potential Youth” and our goal is to grow that potential.
  • We aren’t just focused on educational skills but also interpersonal ones. Our programs include opportunities for youth to learn conflict resolution, anger management, and new decision-making techniques.
  • Students are given as many opportunities for success as we can provide. Many of our programs offer paid internships that provide the students with an experiential learning environment.
  • Our undivided attention and commitment to our students and their families.
