We’re back! With another Team Member of the Month Award!

At NYCID we are committed to those we serve as well as being committed to our team members who get the job done every day.  That is why we take the time each month to honor one team member who has gone above and beyond in their duties.

For the month of May we have selected Lauren Kporlor, group leader for the SONYC program at The Staten Island School of Civic Leadership. Not only during the month of May but throughout her entire time at NYCID Lauren has shown what it means to be an extraordinary team member.  She has helped showcase her students’ creativity and allow them to come away with something tangible even in remote afterschool.  Her students created mood boards to express their own personal themes and comics with many different themes that are important to them.  Her abilities as a mentor and a leader have shined brightly and her students love to be a part of her group which shows with their exceptional work.

Today we took the time to recognize Laurens work and present her the Team Member of the Month Award virtually with NYCID CEO Candace Gonzalez, Associate Director Michael DeVito Jr, Ivy Bilotti Senior Director of After School Programs and staff members from the SISCL.  Once everyone joined the Zoom call the Ceremony began.  DeVito talked about what it means to be an outstanding team member and surprised Lauren with the news that she was being recognized as May’s Team Member of the Month.  Lauren was surprised, happy and couldn’t wait to tell her mom.  After the certificate below was finished being read everyone gave Lauren a round of applause and congratulated her for all her hard work and dedication.  Lauren thanked everyone for coming together to celebrate her achievements and said she is thankful to have such a wonderful team who sticks together.

Thank you Lauren for all that you do for our organization and the youth in our community and continue to improve lives!
