…Repeat: this is NYCID Actual. We have an important announcement:

We have a new communications associate on deck and his name is Adam Derer.  Our new team member has one mission: to help NYCID show off how we improve lives from sunrise to sunset!

Born in New Brunswick, Adam skipped stones and broke a few bones playing football as he grew up in Kendall Park, NJ.  He attended South Brunswick High School, where he manned the goal for his Lacrosse team and drummed for a local band that gigged around town. After High School, he attended Wagner College, earning a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing in 2018.

Sporting a 4.0 GPA at Wagner, Adam was chosen as the only business major to present a senior thesis: “Marketing a Public Health Crisis,” which was about how the aggressive marketing of OxyContin helped create the current opioid addiction epidemic.  During this time, he interned at the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, helping prepare SIEDC’s 2018 Annual Business Conference.  Also, while at Wagner, he hosted an online radio hip-hop show, playing a mix of old, new, and underground music and interviewing a bunch of local artists including Chris Valentine.

When asked what he was passionate about, Adam said, “I’m passionate about helping people get their message across.  It can be tough to effectively communicate and that’s where I come in. In the social media landscape it is hard to catch someone’s attention and even harder to keep it.” Adam feels that he is up to the challenge of helping NYCID capture its unique mission of improving lives everyday.  Adam is most excited to collaborate with the entire team because he recognizes that however similar NYCID programs are, each of them is nuanced.

Our new Communications “guy” has hit the ground running as he joins the team who everyday makes sure that NYCID delivers.
